Copper Pot Still

POT STILL DISTILLATION Pot still distillation, also known as batch still distillation, follows a sequential process: _ Phase 1: The must is introduced into the boiler, where it is subjected to heating. _ Phase 2: Within the main boiler, the must undergoes heating until the alcohol, posses sing a lower evaporation temperature than water, ascends to the head of the still. Subse quently, it is directed into the swan neck — a distinctive descending tube within the still — where the vapor of pure alcohol is channe led and subsequently enters the condenser. _ Phase 3: In the condenser, the vapor tra verses through the cooling coil, facilitating its condensation into liquid form, which then flows into a collection receptacle. This process yields a liquid with an alcohol content ranging between 65% to 75%, after the elimination of heads and tails through the manipulation of heat and the exploita tion of varying evaporation rates of the con stituent components.

Pot still distillation, favored for its capacity to produce limited batches, necessitates re filling for each operation (batch processing), resulting in a product imbued with enhan ced flavor complexity. COLUMN STILL DISTILLATION Column still distillation comprises two di stinct components: an analysis column and a rectification column, both constructed from copper. Analysis column The must is introduced from the top, while steam ascends from the bottom, carrying along with it the alcohol content encounte red during its journey. The operational mechanism is as follows: The must, introduced from above, progres sively fills the plates within the column, ca scading through apertures onto the plates below.
